International Perspectives on Raw Materials Reduction in Europe and Germany

Rainforest and River in Indonesia

The Global North is consuming too many raw materials. This highlights the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in its "Global Resources Outlook 2024" (March 2024). Countries such as Germany in particular are called to change "towards global sustainable resource consumption and production" (UNEP). As PowerShift we are working towards this raw materials transition for many years now. However, the debate on reducing material consumption is currently seen primarily as an environmental debate in the Global North. Together with our partners AEER (Indonesia) and Alyansa Tigil Mina (Philippines), PowerShift brings in voices from the Global South to sharpen arguments, learn about new perspectives and to connect environmental protection with issues of global justice.
