# 14

In Guinea, the federal government guarantees the expansion of a mine for a loan of 293 million US dollars. 13 villages are affected by the negative effects of this mine: Hundreds of people are being relocated, losing fertile land and having no access to drinking water at first. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The Federal Government issued its loan guarantee, although it knew at an early stage about the human rights consequences of mining in Guinea through a study by the Federal Environment Agency.

In 2017, 93 percent of German bauxite imports came from Guinea. The bauxite also ends up as aluminum in German cars. In the new podcast, our raw material expert Michael Reckordt explains what the loan guarantee is all about, what negative effects it has on the people of Guinea and what goals we have set with our campaign. #Stop UnFaire loans to achieve the Federal Government's Unbound Financial Loan Guarantees (UFK).

//Supplement: Shortly after recording the podcast, we learned that the mine operator CBG has now installed 6 faucets for the families in the new village. We apologise for this error.
