Rare earths, the name sounds abstract, almost mystical. In fact, they have long since become a central part of our everyday lives. Without them, there would be no smartphones, no wind turbines, no electric cars – and also many military technologies would hardly be conceivable. But what exactly is behind these raw materials? Why are they at the heart of geopolitical conflicts? And why is a place like Greenland suddenly becoming the focus of global power politics? Let's look at that in this podcast episode.
