Deep-sea mining – which sounds like a novel by Jules Verne, is actively promoted by many countries around the world. In this episode, we talk to Hannah Pilgrim, coordinator of the Working Group on Raw Materials, about why the raw materials of the deep sea suddenly come into the focus of the world community, what the plans - including the Federal Government - are in terms of deep-sea mining, and what ecological and human rights consequences should be urgently addressed. Hannah also makes it clear that expanding mining into the oceans would conflict with a consistently thought-out turnaround in raw materials. Why? Listen to me.
