Travel guide: EU – Colombia, Peru & Ecuador

A large pile of bananas and banana leaves

Poverty intensifier or way out of poverty?

Since 2013, a trade agreement has been in place between the EU and Peru, Colombia. Ecuador acceded to the Agreement in 2017. PowerShift, in cooperation with civil society organisations from the three Andean countries, has created a new travel guide to give an overview of the effects of the agreement, which are now clearly visible. Trade agreements are often touted with great promise by the European Commission, while civil society mostly expresses serious concerns. That's why our new guide to the trade agreements series also deals with the question of what predictions have come true: Could the prosperity and diversity of the economy be increased or did the agreement lead to more inequality and environmental problems?
