Podcast No. 11 – German Presidency of the Council of the EU: Priority for free trade

# 11

Trade policy is one of the priorities of the German EU Presidency. Numerous trade agreements – with Mercosur countries, US President Trump, the UK, China and Mexico – are on the agenda. Our trade expert Alessa Hartmann explains in the new podcast that there is once again great lack of transparency in the negotiations with the USA. This is despite the fact that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had explicitly promised more transparency when she took office. The issue of human rights in global supply chains is not reflected in the free trade agenda of the German Presidency, nor are climate goals and environmental protection.
