Hydrogen is an important energy storage and raw material, for example for climate-neutral steel production. There is a whole color theory of green, blue, pink and gray hydrogen. While green hydrogen can be produced climate-neutrally, blue hydrogen is often referred to as a climate-friendly energy source. In fact, blue hydrogen is to be produced from natural gas and could endanger a real energy transition. Our presenter Antonia Vangelista talks about why it is still so popular with Neelke Wagner, who works at PowerShift on climate and resource justice. We also hear from Aled Fisher, speaker at Oil Change International in Norway, how German demand for blue hydrogen is affecting the natural gas phase-out in Norway.
