The German government plans to make the disposal of carbon dioxide under the North Sea possible. For this purpose, a thousands-kilometre pipeline network for carbon dioxide is to be built throughout Germany.
The collection and disposal of carbon dioxide is a complex and unsafe technology that has so far brought more than less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Even systems that are considered to be flagship projects only work partially. At the same time, there is a risk that real climate protection will fall behind if billions of subsidies are now, as planned, invested in the construction of a waste disposal infrastructure for carbon dioxide.
PowerShift therefore rejects the bill and recommends that it not be passed.
