Opinion as expert on the draft carbon dioxide storage law
The federal government plans to make the final storage of carbon dioxide under the North Sea possible. For this purpose, a pipeline network for carbon dioxide covering thousands of kilometres is to be built throughout Germany.
The capture and final storage of carbon dioxide is an elaborate and unsafe technique that has so far brought more than less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Even plants that are considered to be flagship projects only partially work. At the same time, there is a risk that real climate protection will fall behind if billions of dollars in subsidies are now being used to build up a carbon dioxide disposal infrastructure, as planned.
PowerShift therefore rejects the bill and recommends that it not be passed.
