Position paper: Warming transition in Berlin – fair and ecological
Almost half of Berlin's CO2 emissions come from heating. But by 2035, the whole of Berlin could be warm in winter without polluting the climate, and without rising natural gas prices that many people can no longer pay! Now we have the chance to switch Berlin to climate-friendly heating. The Berlin Senate is buying back Vattenfall's district heating network. So the network comes back into the public domain and thus under democratic control. But for the Senate to further develop the district heating network in the interests of citizens and the climate, we must take action. Unfortunately, the previously known plans show that this is not yet the case.
