The Swedish energy company Vattenfall wants money from Germany, quite a lot of money. EUR 6.1 billion, as ‘compensation for damages’. The company argues that the maturities of its nuclear reactors were devalued after the nuclear phase-out in 2011. In 2012, Vattenfall filed a lawsuit against Germany before a private international arbitral tribunal in Washington. A decision is expected this year or at the latest at the beginning of next year.
