Oil and gas producers and other polluting companies want us to believe that hydrogen automatically ensures sustainability. But behind closed doors, they have done a lot of lobbying to falsify the emission calculation models in such a way that hydrogen from fossil gas can be described as ‘clean’. The relevant rules are about to be published.

It reveals how industrial players have watered down a legal act of the EU Commission that should actually contribute to climate protection. If this greenwashing is successful, which it unfortunately looks like, the new regulation will cement our dependence on fossil fuels for decades – including all the bad consequences for the climate and the environment.
