Natural gas is mainly used in electricity and heat generation and in the chemical industry. However, it is not a clean energy source, but highly problematic. In this factsheet we show how big the climate damage of natural gas is and which serious environmental problems such as air and water pollution, earthquakes and land consumption are added. In many countries of the Global South, consideration is now being given to an entry into gas production. This would be fatal not only for the climate, but also for the people living there. We need to get out of the use of natural gas.
