Removing Land from Speculation – Towards a Climate-Friendly Land Policy in Rural Areas
Aquarium am Kottbusser Tor, Skalitzer Str. 6, Berlin
25.04.2026, 9:30 - 15:00 (incl. lunch)
For several years now, the concentration of land ownership has been rising rapidly. Whether it is Aldi, Vonovia or Munich insurance companies, large corporations and wealthy private owners are increasingly deciding how land is used in Germany. Rising rents put particularly peasant farms and solidarity farming under pressure. At the same time, effective climate protection and adaptation are also made more difficult by the profit interests of a few: Landowners stop wind farms, the agricultural industry leaches soils, nobles prevent effective flood protection. Both climate justice groups and farmer initiatives repeatedly come up against the ground question, but so far there is little networking among each other.
That's why we invite you to a joint exchange: What can a common good-oriented land policy look like that ensures climate protection, climate adaptation and a diverse agriculture? How can farmers and climate justice movements better cooperate on the soil issue, and what concrete initiatives are already in place? Whether citizens' initiative, farmers, tenants' ini or political group - everyone is cordially invited who wants to stand up for climate-friendly land policy.
