It's time! On Monday (27 October) the Toxic trade tour with a kick-off event in Vienna, Austria!
From there, a van loaded with highly toxic pesticide barrels will tour at least 8 countries in Europe. On 30.10 at 15.00 on the Bob von Bethem Platz in Munich German politicians will have to answer a huge pyramid of pesticide barrels – is the EU-Mercosur trade agreement toxic, yes or no?
On Monday, 3.11. at 15.00 We will ask Chancellors Friedrich Merz and Ursula von der Leyen these and other questions. in front of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin put. Why? Because the Federal Government is called upon to decide before the end of the year whether to vote in the Council of the European Union for or against the controversial EU-Mercosur agreement. The tour will conclude on 24 November in Brussels in parallel with the meeting of EU trade ministers, where important steps will be taken to decide on the agreement.
More than 40 European and Latin American civil society organisations are supporting the Toxic Trade Tour. The aim is to draw attention to exports of highly hazardous pesticides from the EU to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. These will continue to increase with the agreement. with serious consequences for the health of agricultural workers and the rural population in Mercosur and the biodiversity there. Through re-imports of food sprayed with these pesticides, the toxic substances also end up on the plates of European consumers.
That is why we demand “No to the EU-Mercosur Agreement – Yes, to an export ban on pesticides not authorised in the EU”!
Come and demonstrate with us in Munich and Berlin!
