The expansion of wind and solar power often leads to heated discussions in rural areas: Who owns the ground on which it is built? Who is making revenue more difficult – and who benefits from the installation? Right-wing actors are increasingly using such debates to charge them nationalistically and to question the energy transition as a whole. In the process, legitimate concerns of farmers in land-use competitions also get under the wheel.
But how can we talk about these concerns without talking to right-wing actors? Together, we look at right-wing narratives and arguments around land policy and land competition in the field of tension between energy transition and agriculture, learn to classify them, and develop strategies to react confidently.
