Maja Wilke is a consultant in the field of raw materials policy at PowerShift. In her work, she analyzes global supply chains of metallic raw materials, especially with regard to their importance for the automotive industry as well as for key technologies of the energy and mobility transition. One focus is on the social and environmental impact of raw material extraction as well as on policies to reduce primary raw material consumption.

Among other things, it deals with EU mining standards, supply chains in the solar sector and approaches for a resource-efficient circular economy. In doing so, it examines potentials to reduce the consumption of raw materials, for example through material efficiency, recycling, substitution and a fundamental mobility transition towards collective and less resource-intensive transport systems.

A further focus of her work is the analysis and monitoring of raw material policy processes at German and European level. These include, in particular, the National Circular Economy Strategy (NCWS), initiatives under the European Green Deal, such as the Circular Economy, and regulatory developments relevant to resource protection and water, such as the EU Water Framework Directive.

The aim of her work is to strengthen the political framework conditions for a social-ecological turnaround in raw materials. This includes the promotion of binding human rights and environmental standards along global supply chains as well as the development of strategies for the absolute reduction of raw material consumption in industrial sectors.
