Berlin's largest district heating network once again belongs to the country and thus to its citizens. We continue to celebrate this as a great success for Berlin's civil society, which has fought for years for the repurchase. This could be the start of a socially just heat transition.<\/p>\n

But what's next? <\/strong>
\nVattenfall W\u00e4rme is now called Berliner Energie und W\u00e4rme GmbH (BEW). But even more than a year after the buyback, there are still many open questions as to how the conversion of the grid for a sustainable, ecologically and socially fair heat supply can succeed. The outdated plan from Vattenfall's time, which continues to focus mainly on combustion, is not suitable for this. The coal phase-out is firmly planned, but instead of burning wood, waste or hydrogen in the future, the climate problem does not solve and threatens to start a price spiral.<\/p>\n
