Berlin\/Brussels, 13 July 2023:<\/strong> A coalition of over 450 civil society organisations from Latin America and the EU, which opposes the signing of trade agreements between the EU, Mercosur, Mexico and Chile, calls on government representatives to send a strong signal AGAINST trade (and investment) agreements between the EU, Mexico, Chile and Mercosur. The background is a meeting of government representatives on 17 and 18 July at the EU-CELAC summit in Brussels. Instead, they should prepare the ground for a new era of just and sustainable cooperation between the two regions (you can find the full explanation here).\u00a0here<\/a>).<\/p>\n In addition, more than 50 civil society organisations from the EU and Latin America are organising accompanying events to the EU-CELAC Summit and calling for a new trade relationship between Latin America and the EU. During one Half-day conference in the European Parliament<\/a> On Monday morning, 17 July, representatives of trade unions, indigenous movements, environmental and trade justice NGOs, together with MEPs from the left, the Greens\/EFA and the S&D Group, invited to discuss alternative ways of trade and strengthening cooperation between regions.<\/p>\n The conference will be followed by a protest rally in front of the EU Parliament and an evening event on just transformation for Latin America.
