{"id":82283,"date":"2022-12-15T16:33:35","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T15:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/power-shift.de\/?p=82283"},"modified":"2025-09-12T16:52:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T14:52:54","slug":"wasserstoff-und-klimagerechtigkeit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/power-shift.de\/en\/wasserstoff-und-klimagerechtigkeit\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydrogen and climate justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The publication of the <a href=\"https:\/\/konzeptwerk-neue-oekonomie.org\/\">Concept work New Economy<\/a> makes it clear: \u2018Green\u2019 hydrogen from 100% Renewable energy can contribute to a climate-friendly economy if deployment is limited and areas of use are clearly politically prioritised.<\/p>\n<p>The massive hydrogen ramp-up planned by industry, the EU and the German government threatens to have climate-damaging effects \u2013 the planned demand will not be \u2018green\u2019 in the foreseeable future. New natural gas networks are currently being legitimised as allegedly \u2018H2-ready\u2019 \u2013 a strong exaggeration that could mean a fossil lock-in for decades. Last but not least, planned hydrogen export megaprojects in the global South threaten to continue colonial injustices: Resources such as money, land, fresh water and raw materials are reserved for the growth of European industry instead of a local, democratic energy transition.
