If this happens, international investors may sue states if they reduce their profits. <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u2013<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">For example: <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a halt to fossil fuel production; or <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">by raising social and environmental standards. Not in an ordinary court, but in a private arbitral tribunal. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, unlike the far-reaching rights for investors, CETA does not contain a legal possibility to enforce environmental and sustainability requirements. Concrete commitments on climate protection are also not included in the agreement.
