In the letter, we identify the core issues of the ECT and call on policy makers to remove the provisions on fossil fuel protection and investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) from the treaty and to stop the process of geographical expansion of the treaty. In its current state, the treaty is incompatible with the Paris climate agreement.
