(2/3) Just Renewables - Online workshop series on the global equitable expansion of renewable energies
4. June 2024 @ 18:00 - 20:00

Without the expansion of renewables, there will be no phase-out of fossil fuels. But renewable does not automatically mean climate-friendly. From environmental damage caused by the extraction of the necessary raw materials to land use conflicts for renewable megaprojects, from the destruction of river ecosystems by hydropower to neocolonial dynamics on the emerging hydrogen market: Even in a fossil-free energy system, exploitation, human rights violations and environmental destruction threaten if it is built along the old structures of the fossil-based economic system.
How can we ensure that the energy transition is fair? What role does hydrogen play in this? This summer, GegenStrömung and PowerShift e.V. are offering an online workshop series on these questions. On three dates, we hear from those affected and experts and think together about what the newly acquired knowledge means for us.
The second workshop will be held in English, a translation is unfortunately not possible.

Registration (for all dates or for individual):
After registering, you will receive the link to the events. The first two workshops can be attended independently of each other. The third workshop builds on the first two because we want to use the knowledge gained there and the state of discussion for the work.
We look forward to seeing you!
