PlatzFairShare - Let's get back on the road!

Help us recapture the street space! We create facts and displace the cars!

On 16 August 2021, we inaugurated our meeting places in Berlin. Finally, because sometimes we have already believed that it is not possible to legally park in parking lots anything other than a car or a construction container. There was simply no procedure for this. It took 16 months for the administrative procedure to be established, completed and the temporary conversion of parking spaces to be approved. This is too long and reflects the great inertia in the mobility turnaround. It takes more courage, shorter decision-making paths and political will to change in order for the mobility turnaround in Berlin to become a reality.

Our city is suffocating in traffic. This is due to a transport policy that has favoured car traffic over other road users for decades. Privately used cars and trucks dominate traffic and public space.

Many people want a real change in traffic. The time is ripe for that. Because, without a real mobility turnaround, we will be able toFailure to meet climate targets. Fair mobility for all is a key contribution to global climate justice! We demand a liveable city with more space for people, cycling, walking and public transport!

We no longer want to stand idly by and watch, but actively pursue climate protection. Instead of endless rows of underused cars, we want to create new mobility and living spaces on the roadsides: in converted parking spaces and in public spaces. They include green spaces, seating, creative conversions and an intercultural supporting programme. In this way, alternative forms of use of public space are made concrete and tangible. An alternative reality emerges. Temporary, but with the power to initiate long-term change processes. They show how smart transport policy and urban planning can make our city more livable.

What do we mean by new mobility and habitats?

- the temporary transformation of the street space or a gray parking lot into a lively place of encounter, e.g. by car park occupations, street carpets, mobile planters, street templates and much more.

- a meeting place for the neighbourhood

- a place to sit and linger

- a place to dream what city might look like

- a place for city greenery and cultural events

Why would anyone support our project?

Do you also want a greener city with more public space? Then help us to push ahead with the traffic turnaround. Our project aims to create an alternative reality, strengthen neighbourhoods and promote civic engagement and exchange. We are not profit-oriented. However, we need your support for the purchase, the care, the supporting program and the transport! Please support us in this important work.

With more pressure, the urgently needed turnaround in traffic will succeed sooner than if we let the mills of the official offices be granted. People need more space – cars don't!
